Rusty’s leg won’t stop bleeding, so after Rusty falls asleep at night Jay and Don’ shove whatever they can find underneath of it; newspapers, towels, sheets, cloth, and take the soiled things away before Rusty wakes up, so he has a clean blanket in the morning. but they’re running out of room in their trash can, which they keep locked in the dingy garden shed out back.

they know the little kid they found on the road isn’t going to last much longer but they take him in anyway and make him that dumb crooked crutch and patch his wounds as best they can. they argue sometimes about telling him the truth but always forego it and teach him how to clean a gun or redo someone’s bandages instead. and they finally had a use for that solitary sandal they found even if it does slide off of his foot all the time.
